During July 2009, all customers running TriSys ASP Version 7 will be migrated to TriSys ASP Version 8 and Office 2007.

To assist understanding of this migration programme, this document describes the additional benefits to customers currently on ASP Version 7 in moving to Version 8.0

The key benefits of TriSys ASP Version 8 over Version 7 are:

·         TriSys Version 8.0 is a new advanced version of TriSys released in November 2008 with much greater functionality

·         TriSys ASP Version 8 is hosted at a multi-million pound data centre in England

·         Office 2007 is the latest production version of Microsoft Office productivity suite

·         Unified Outlook Add-In

·         E-mail can be synchronised with TriSys 8 so that all incoming and outgoing e-mails are saved in the SQL database and tagged against the correct contact

·         Improved technical support

Each key benefit is described in more detail below.

TriSys Version 8.0

Multi-Million Pound Data Centre

Previous versions were hosted at a variety of locations. The version 8 ASP infrastructure is built on a geographically dispersed network of servers which provides resiliency and redundancy to mitigate threats such as global warming, terrorism, power shortages, telecommunication outages and human error.

The primary Geo-Cluster data centre is hosted with DediPower. The data centre is a world-class professionally managed, fully secure environment with backup power generators, redundant telecommunications. TriSys manages the entire TriSys ASP via secure communications ensuring that data remains secure and confidential only to TriSys and its customers. Our Geo-Cluster partners provide infrastructure only – TriSys manages and supports the applications and data.

Dedicated ASP Server Bandwidth

The TriSys V8 ASP environment provides dedicated multi-megabit telecommunications Per Server so that each server is isolated from the demands of other servers in the cluster. This provides faster performance at all times.

E-Mail Management

Customers have a choice with respect to the management of their e-mail. TriSys ASP Outlook can manage e-mail from either an ISP or from TriSys’ e-mail providers.

Due to the inherent complexity and high total cost of ownership of managing ‘always-on’ e-mail servers, TriSys will be partnering with Google to provide centralised e-mail management through the g-mail service which provides e-mail to almost two million companies worldwide. TriSys will manage the migration and MX record transfer on behalf of customers. Customer e-mail will still be available through TriSys ASP Outlook, however remote web based e-mail access will use the g-mail portal rather than Outlook Web Access.

One of the key benefits of TriSys V8, is the e-mail synchronisation utility which assigns all incoming and outgoing e-mail to the associated TriSys contact records. This is done automatically so that every single e-mail transaction, even if carried out on a wireless PDA or remote terminal, will be recorded in the database and searchable. TriSys V8 can also synchronise Microsoft Outlook Calendar and Contacts to provide full PDA support for recruitment activities.

Office 2007

The latest production version of Microsoft Office is 2007 and will replace Office 2003. The main innovation is the introduction of the ribbon interface across all products (although missing from the main window of Outlook). Office 2007 can also handle the new .docx word format.

Unified Outlook Add-In

To enable TriSys v7 and 8 to run simultaneously on the same machine, a new Outlook add-in has been developed to replace the existing COM add-in. This can be used with both version 7 and version 8. Further details can be found here.

Improved Technical Support

Because the TriSys ASP V8 cluster has been designed and built by our network engineers using state of the art tried and tested technology, we are able to provide a much higher level of support than to the older legacy ASP environments. Also, because the hardware can be replaced immediately as part of the service agreement with our partners, the potential downtime is almost zero.

TriSys V8 is also a more generic product which, because of the very high level of default functionality, there is much less bespoke customisations which improve the support of the product to customers. TriSys V8 also comes with more documentation in particular F1 help to allow users to obtain help directly from the application. Customers can use the dashboard to log support issues without having to remember login names and passwords.

Finally, because we are effectively outsourcing the management of the e-mail delivery and not managing complex internal e-mail systems, our IT and product support personnel will be more available to deal with more issues, more rapidly.
