Skype is a Voice over IP (VoIP) application which can connect to other devices (computers and telephones) using a broadband internet connection and then optionally through telephone exchanges or satellite (calling landlines or mobiles).
Further details for Skype can be found at this link: http://www.skype.com/
TriSys Business Software has created a new (March 2005) action which will invoke a VoIP telephone conversation using the Skype voice over IP (VoIP) technology. This effectively allows TriSys users to make free telephone calls to other Skype users. Skype is also capable of making calls to land lines for as little as 1.1 pence (£0.011) per minute.
The action is invoked from the Actions menu:

The Call Client (&/or Candidate, or both) action will show the contacts available telephone numbers and a Skype button is shown alongside each number:

Click the button corresponding to the number to be dialled in order to invoke Skype…

Skype launches (and logs the user in if necessary) and automatically dials the specified telephone number.
A SkypeOut account will need to be setup with Skype in order to be permitted to make calls to landline and mobile telephone numbers. This can be setup with €10 worth of credit.
This TriSys action provides the following business benefits:
Free voice calls from your computer to other Skype users
No need to re-key telephone numbers
Cheap calls to landlines (1.1p per minute)
Re-use of existing broadband telecommunications infrastructure
